Community Accountant/Trainer

I started at CA Plus in January 2008, having had an 18 month career break to look after my two young daughters. I started out working for Coopers & Lybrand within their public sector department. Coopers & Lybrand then became PricewaterhouseCoopers and I completed my accountancy training with them, gaining my CIPFA qualification in 2000, specialising in Local Government accounting.

Having spent almost five years working for a big private sector organisation, I decided to get a life back and so moved to work within Local Government at Rushcliffe Borough Council as Senior Internal Auditor. After this I moved to a similar role at Rutland County Council before having time off to look after my family.

My role at CA Plus is accountant / trainer and having spent the first 12 years of my career auditing accounts and financial systems, I am now really enjoying being the one to actually produce the accounts. I am also really enjoying going out to meet the groups to give one on one training, it is great to spend some time meeting people from all walks of life and the help I can give always seems to be greatly appreciated.

Other than work and my family, I enjoy playing the piano, tennis and rowing. I used to do the rowing very seriously and competitively out in all weathers and often early mornings, but now I have my own single scull and can paddle up and down the river Trent on just the nicer sunnier days.
